Youngstown kicks off 2-day St. Patrick’s Day celebration

Local News

In downtown Youngstown, the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are already underway.

The two-day St. Patrick’s Day Festival started Saturday afternoon.

There are tents set up on Federal Street, food, Irish bagpipers and bands. More than a dozen bars are participating.

For some people, the Federal Street party is a longtime tradition for celebrating St. Patty’s Day in Youngstown.

“We both come to the Federal lot. It’s like our second home. We love it, and we just like being down here for St. Patty’s Day. It’s just fun to celebrate,” said Alyssa McClimans.

If you couldn’t make it on Saturday, everything starts up again at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Admission is $5.

Due to the event, there is a parking ban on Federal Street between Hazel and Phelps street, which will continue until 3 a.m. Monday. A portion of Federal Street and Phelps Street between Commerce and Federal streets are also closed to vehicular traffic during that time.
