YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – When Basia Adamczak first joined Youngstown City Council, she was the youngest member ever elected.
When she begins her new term next month, she’ll be part of the city’s first female majority on council.
Monday morning, Adamczak took the oath of office from Mahoning County Judge Anthony D’Apolito. Her two daughters held the bible for her as she was sworn in.
Adamczak now has her eyes set on improving the neighborhoods, including the 7th Ward.
“I was very fortunate last term. With collaboration, we were able to bring in about half a million dollars into the parks, into the 7th Ward. So I would continue, we’d like to continue working on those kinds of projects, really stabilizing the neighborhood,” she said.
Adamczak won 7th Ward re-election by just seven votes over her challenger Don Scott.
She thanked her family and friends for their support.
