A local woman with Parkinson’s Disease is helping others facing the disease.
Peggy Poole has been living with Parkinson’s for almost 20 years. She hosted a pasta dinner with her husband and a team on Sunday to raise money for research.
The dinner was held at Station Square in Liberty. Attendees had the chance to win baskets and a 50/50 raffle.
Poole said research must be done to help those battling with the disease.
“The more research they do, the better that the Parkinson’s people will be able to look forward to the future that doesn’t have the disease attached to it. So, that will work,” she said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Parkinson’s Unity Walk in New York City. The Pooles say they raised $21,000 from the event, and they have raised $133,000 in the past seven years.
