AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – An Austintown woman told police that her boyfriend fired his gun at her during an argument on Monday morning.
The woman said her boyfriend, 40-year-old Jason Pinto, had been drinking since the previous day and was upset about an incident involving members of his motorcycle gang, according to a police report.
She reported that he shoved her into a door and then began waving a handgun, later firing it toward her. She said a round struck the floor near her feet, and she ran out of the house with no socks or shoes on, according to the report.
The woman said Pinto then chased her to her truck, saying he didn’t mean to shoot at her.
The woman told police that she didn’t believe it was an accident as Pinto cocked the gun prior to the shooting.
This happened at a home in the 200 block of S. Navarre Ave., according to the report.
Police said the woman didn’t report the incident until about two hours after the shooting because she had been driving around, talking to her mother on the phone. She said she was in fear that Pinto would harm her.
Police charged Pinto with felonious assault due to the victim’s statement and “evidence at the scene,” according to the report.
Officers did not specify what evidence was recovered.
