West Branch awarded for music program

BELOIT, Ohio (WKBN) – The West Branch School District is being recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education.

The National Association of Music Foundation awards school districts for their achievements and their accessibility to music education for students.

According to a press release, West Branch was the only district in the county to be recognized.

The district said their students are encouraged to take part in band, choir and theater.

“We try to work our rehearsal schedule around the athletic activities offered here in West Branch,” said John Zamarelli, high school director of band, choir and theater programs.

“My love for music has sprouted due to the insane amount of programs offered here. I love every second I spend here, and I’m so proud of the person I’ve become because of the music programs and our teachers,” said Ella Scofinsky, an 8th grader at West Branch.
