WATCH: ‘Overwhelmed at the student support that was going on at Hickory’

Local News

After the deadly crash on Interstate 80 Sunday night, the victims’ families are overwhelmed by support from the community.

The crash killed 16-year-old Alexis Myers and 15-year-old Danielle Nelson — both students at Hickory High School. It also put two other high schoolers in the hospital with serious injuries, though they are on their way to recovery.

The group was on its way to a youth faith-based event at Grove City College. Both Myers and Nelson, as well as one of the survivors, were active members of Notre Dame Church in Hermitage.

Joe Ranelli, the youth education director at Notre Dame, said the victims’ families have received a tremendous amount of support.

Watch the video above to hear what a school nurse told Ranelli about the Hickory community coming together.
