WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A woman told police that a man tried to rob her while she was cutting grass on Summit Street NW.
She told police that around 2 p.m. Wednesday, she was mowing when a vehicle backed into the parking lot east of her house. She said only her neighbors use that parking lot.
She said a man and a female passenger were in the car. The passenger got out of the car and put something over the license plate of the vehicle, according to a police report. She said the passenger then got back into the car.
A while later, the driver jumped out of the car and tried to rip off her necklace. The necklace broke, but she was able to grab it before the man ran back into the car and drove away.
Police said the woman had a cut on her neck from the necklace.
The victim described the vehicle involved as an older black American four-door car, possibly a hatchback.
She said the driver was a black man in his late 30s, approximately 5’9″ tall and weighing 170 pounds. He wore a large white t-shirt.
The passenger was described as a black woman in her late 20s with red and brown hair, which was in a ponytail. She was wearing a t-shirt and shorts.
