WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren police say three women are facing charges after a home invasion turned into a stabbing on Monday.

According to the report, Tahira Newsome, 23, was sleeping with her boyfriend in his home at the 2000 block of Wallace Street. At around 2:30 a.m., the boyfriend said he heard loud banging at the back door.

After opening the door, he said his former girlfriend,  24-year old Shampaine Phifer, and 21-year old Taylor Phifer pushed past him into the home and attacked Newsome in bed.

Newsome tried to fight the women off, using pepper spray but told police she did not think anything came out. She then made it to the kitchen and started swinging around a knife, the report said.

Police said the two women suffered cuts and punches. The Phifers were taken to the hospital for treatment and were charged with aggravated burglary.

They said Newsome was charged with felonious assault.
