Police are trying to figure out who shot and killed a man on Warren’s southeast side on Wednesday night.
Detectives are investigating what is now the city’s second homicide of 2019.
Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Azhiek Bennett.
It happened at the Trumbull Homes on S. Feederle Drive shortly after 10 p.m.
“All of a sudden I hear, ‘Pow, pow, pow!” neighbor Joe Bailey described.
He looked to see what happened.
“When I got to my door, I seen him laying on the cement there, so I took off and went over, and saw him gasping for air,” Bailey said.
Detectives are looking for information and witnesses to the crime.
“I never thought something like this would happen to him,” Bailey said.
“This is — make no mistake, the act of a violent perpetrator, and the only thing that’s going to cause justice to be done is for anyone who knows anything to talk to and cooperate with our police department,” said Director of Service and Safety Enzo Cantalamessa.
Police have not named any suspects.
