Warren home to be demolished by “Building A Better Warren”

Local News

We got an inside look at the work that goes on inside a home that was deemed blight.

The home is being demolished by “Building A Better Warren”, a group within the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership program.

The home is on Elm across from Warren G. Harding High School.

Inside the home, there was trash everywhere, broken glass, even old children’s drawings.

Warren currently has around 1,500 blighted homes in the city and another 1,500 in the surrounding communities.

“The community has come down a little bit, but I believe if people seeing us out, cutting grass and putting up gardens and putting these fences up and actually taking pride in the community, it might make people feel like Warren is a good place and feel like ‘I’m happy to live here,'” Gary Honeywood of Building a Better Warren said.

The group says they plan to demolish at least 150 more houses in 2018.
