An Uber driver called police in Mercer County to report that his passenger tried to light up a marijuana joint in his car.

The driver called police from the Sheetz in Springfield Township early Thursday morning, telling them that he was driving a man from Akron to Butler, Pa.

The driver said the passenger, identified as 29-year-old DeAngelo Wilkins, asked for permission to smoke and then began smoking the marijuana.

The driver reported telling Wilkins that he could not smoke an illegal substance in his vehicle.

When Grove City police arrived, Wilkins tried to flush the drugs down the toilet at Sheetz, according to a report. Police said an officer then hit Wilkins with a taser because he would not comply with the officer’s commands.
