Trumbull County officers receive high-tech training

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – Police officers in Trumbull County are getting some high-tech training this week.

The state police officers’ training program is in Newton Falls through Friday.

Officers from all around the area went through gun and driving simulations. There’s also an ambush awareness training program.

It’s a way to train for dangerous situations without putting the officer in physical danger.

Daniel Pastor, a law enforcement training officer, said the program is very effective.

“An officer was involved in a shooting in the state of Ohio, and our training was one of the trainings that actually saved his life,” he said.

There’s also a gun training program that uses electronic weapons and simulated situations.
