Truck driver accused of attacking woman at Love's Travel Stop

John Edvon is charged with felonious assault and domestic violence

HUBBARD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) - A truck driver from North Carolina was arrested Tuesday night at the Love's Travel Stop in Hubbard Township after a woman reported that he hit her in the head with a flashlight.

Police said the woman showed them video that she had taken with her cell phone showing 36-year-old John Edvon attacking her. Police said the assault took place inside of Edvon's company semi-truck.

An officer noted in a police report that the victim had numerous videos showing Edvon assaulting her while he was driving the semi-truck on the interstate.

Police questioned Edvon, and he said the woman was trying to shock him with a stun gun and he was using the flashlight to knock the stun gun from her, according to a police report.

Police said, however, that the video showed the woman only grabbing the stun gun after Edvon appeared to try to hit her in the head with the flashlight. Police said she had bruises and a bite mark on her body, as well as marks from a stun gun.

According to the report, the victim made several statements leading officers to believe that she was suffering some sort of mental distress or paranoia. She was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

Edvon was arrested and charged with felonious assault and domestic violence. He posted a $75,000 bond and is due in court again on Wednesday.
