SALEM TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Two people were killed in a head-on crash in Salem Township on Wednesday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the victims as Bernard R. Smith, 81, and Lula Ann Smith, 80, both of Lisbon.

According to a news release, Bernard Smith was driving a 2020 Subaru Forester on state Route 45, just south of Route 558. The area is also commonly referred to as Ski Slope Hill.

The vehicle then traveled left of center, hitting a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 just before 9 a.m., according to troopers.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, a 30-year-old from Alliance, went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Bernard Smith and his passenger, Lula Ann Smith, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
