LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Liberty Police were called to a crash on State Route 11 in Liberty Township involving a cruiser.

At 1:43 p.m. Friday, a car was traveling southbound on SR11 near Route 80 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the rear of a patrol car.

The patrol car was sitting stationary in a crossover at the time of the crash, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Nathan Dennis.

According to OSP, both the trooper and the driver — who was identified as R. Carl Hopson, of Handover — were transported to St. Elizabeth’s hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hopson has been cited for failure to control, and the crash remains under investigation, according to Lt. Dennis.
