Traffic stops net over $9K and several narcotics in New Castle

New Castle police seized several drugs and cash during two separate traffic stops in the city.

According to police, officers on patrol stopped a car Monday with a New York license plate on Harbor Street.

Police say one of the passengers in the car, identified as Leslie Franklin, Jr., of Youngstown, was carrying 36 grams of suspected heroin and over $3,000 in cash. Officers say they also found over 223 grams of marijuana and over $800 in cash in the trunk.

Franklin was charged with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Two others in the car with Franklin were also charged. Latajha Latrell Stonewall, of Los Angeles, California, and Demond Tamari Ramsey, of New Castle, were both were charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance.

On Tuesday, New Castle police officers stopped a car on Ray Street. Two people inside the car were identified as Shawn Randall, of New Castle, and Octarius Williams, (police did not give a city of residence in the report).

Officer searched both men and the car. Officers say Randall was carrying over $3,700 in cash. Police also found two plastic bags containing suspected cocaine and a torn open bag containing suspected heroin and loose crack cocaine rocks in between his buttocks, according to police.

Police say they found a small amount of marijuana on Williams, along with about $2,000 in cash and a digital scale.

Randall was charged with possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance.

Williams was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
