LIBERTY TWP., Pennsylvania (WKBN) – The identity of a teenager who was killed in a crash Sunday has been released.
Derrick Hofmann, 17, died on the scene of an accident in the 2100 block of Mercer Butler Pike, or Route 258, according to Mercer County Coroner John Libonati. The crash happened at 2:41 p.m., according to a Pennsylvania State Police report.
Hofmann was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed, and Hofmann died due to blunt force trauma, according to the coroner.
According to a Pennsylvania State police report, a Toyota Camry was traveling south on Mercer Butler Pike when it lost control around a curve in the roadway, going off the road and down an embankment. The vehicle rolled several times, throwing Hofmann from the vehicle.
Troopers say Hofmann was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

There were four others in the vehicle at the time. The driver was sent to St. Elizabeth Health Center with a serious injury, while the other injuries were suspected to be minor.
