A Struthers man who needs a kidney is getting a good response to signs which are asking for help.

Ed Mahoney said at least 12 potential donors have called him after WKBN aired a story about his search for a donor.

He said there could be more potential donors, because he has no idea who might have called the hospital, UPMC.

Monday, WKBN reported on the signs which say “Please call to donate a much-needed kidney.”

Mahoney has PKD — polycystic kidney disease.

There are four yard signs around the Mahoning Valley asking for help.

Mahoney said he’s hoping and praying that he gets a match soon for a kidney.

A Spaghetti Dinner for Ed will be held on May 20. It will be from noon to 5 p.m. at St. Luke’s. It includes Chinese auction, silent auction and a 50-50 drawing.

If you are interested in more information on donating a kidney, you can call UPMC at 1-412-864-5475 or Ed at 330-750-0837.
