YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Thursday, kids from the Boys and Girls Club had a chance to put their etiquette skills to use.
Every year, St. John’s Episcopal Church invites the Boys and Girls Club out for a formal dinner.
“Many of them take an etiquette class, and they didn’t have any place to practice learning all those skills, so we serve them a four course meal like a restaurant,” said Reverend Gayle Catinella of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
The meal was prepared for the kids then served to them at their tables. All the food was prepared by people from the parish.
There was a soup course, a salad course, a main course and dessert.
“It reinforces a lot of good things. Like good nutrition, and eating around a table, having good conversation and neighbors, being good neighbors and all of those things. So, we hope that bits and pieces that make sense are what they take from this,” Reverend Catinella said.
This is the third year for the dinner, and they plan to continue doing it every year.
