SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – The Springfield Township Police Department announced on Monday that K9 Dany will be retiring from duty later this year, following surgery that will take place within the next few weeks.
Before retirement, police say they hope Dany will recover from the surgery and continue working with his partner, Officer Glenn Corey.
They said Dany has tracked down violent felons, found evidence in crimes and detected illegal drugs.
The Springfeld K9 Unit has been in service since April of 2012.
According to police, Corey will be leading a campaign to raise money for Dany’s replacement and equipment. The Springfield Police Department is accepting donations from the community.
