A Trumbull County sheriff’s deputy rescued a dog he found lying in the road early Wednesday morning.

He was driving along Hoagland Blackstub Road in Mecca Township just after 12:30 a.m.

The deputy saw a Beagle just north of Mahan Denman Road. He said the dog jumped up and ran back and forth across the road.

He said the dog did not have a collar.

The deputy took the dog to the Bazetta Police Department to give it shelter, food and water.
