POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) - Severe weather that escalated across the Valley left damage to trees and buildings Sunday night.
One area critically hit was North Lima Road in Poland. A large tree was down across the roadway just south of Acorn Street, which was one of at least 10 down in Poland.
"North Lima is probably blocked the worst. I think about three or four places where it's blocked," said resident Scott Rich.
Rich lives on the road where there were also power lines down. The first thing he saw was the heavy cables on the utility poles going up and down.
"I'd never seen anything like that before, and then the rain kept getting heavier and heavier to the point I couldn't even see to our trees out front here," Rich said.
About 10 homes away, another tree had fallen and damaged the corner of Maureen Weetman's house.
"I kept seeing cars turning around on the streets and I came out to see what was going on and I looked up and there was a tree in my house," Weetman said.
In the center of Poland, a tree was dangling on power lines across from the Shell Station, closing a short stretch of North Main Street. There was also a tree across Walker Mill Road.
A large tree uprooted on Perry Street in Struthers, bringing power lines down with it.
The same thing happened on the south side of Youngstown, involving a large pine tree on Roxbury Avenue.
In Boardman, a down power line at Route 224 and Market Street caused the road to close for a short time. The Shell Station at Route 224 and South Avenue had trash cans rearranged.
Salinas Trail at the Boardman Plaza was covered with four feet of water.
In Salem, there were shots of hail on decks and ice pellets on the ground against the green grass.
