YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Sunday morning, Second Sole in Boardman hosted a run through Mill Creek Park.
The Run Y-town 5- and 10-miler is a preview of the course for the Youngstown Marathon this fall.
To have a race in Youngstown allows runners to build connections with one other, according to Ambassador Coordinator Erik Reed.
“Have a sense of community involved in the race that you go to these races, you know who you’re running with, you know who you’re running against, as opposed to having to go to a city that you’re not familiar with, you’re not familiar with the landscape,” he said.
The Youngstown Marathon is now a Boston-certified race. This means that runners who finish in a set time will be able to run the Boston Marathon in 2021.
The Youngstown Marathon will take place this October.
