CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley teamed up with several communities for a produce giveaway.
Second Harvest, along with the cities of Campbell, Lowellville and Struthers, hosted a giveaway Wednesday. The distribution focused on the residents of those cities.
55,000 pounds of fresh produce was handed out by law enforcement, city officials and volunteers from the community.
It started at 9 a.m. at the Roosevelt Park Community Center in Campbell.
Campbell Mayor Bryan Tedesco said events like these are the reason for the season.
“It’s great, I get sentimental when it comes to stuff like this for Christmas. It’s all about Christmas,” he said.
This is the first time these three cities have partnered up for a food giveaway and they plan to keep the collaboration going.
