BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Rulli Brothers and Miss Dana’s Diamonds hosted their second all-inclusive Trunk or Treat event at the Boardman grocery store on Sunday.
For one reason or another, not every child has the capability to trick or treat on Halloween.
“We actually had kids who were in wheelchairs from special needs cheerleading and I realized they can’t go door-to-door,” said event director Dana Winters.
Winters started the all-inclusive Trunk or Treat last year. Here, kids make their way inside and outside of Rulli Brothers to trick or treat.
There were candy options, non-candy options and everything in close proximity for kids.
“If they do get something they can’t have, they can exchange it for something they can have,” said volunteer Becky Stredni.
Stredni used her car as one of the trunks for the event. She said all kids move at different paces, including her own.
“You don’t have to worry about kids rushing up to the door to get candy. They can take their time and enjoy it,” Stredni said.
There were also several inclusive activities planned for the event, which started at noon and continued until 4 p.m.
Trunk or Treat was free to children and adults with special needs.
Rulli Brothers is located at 8025 South Avenue.
