BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — According to Ohio State Highway patrol, the road closure between West Blvd. and Tippecanoe Road has been reopened.

The road was reopened at around 12:30 a.m.

The crash was caused by a pedestrian attempting to cross Route 224. The pedestrian, Sean Durkin, was struck by two cars, which caused them to crash just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Sean Durkin was the former baseball and girl’s basketball coach and athletic director for Ursuline High School.

Ursuline High School released a statement saying ” Sean was an extraordinarily accomplished leader of young athletes in boys’ baseball and girls’ basketball. His records in both programs at Ursuline are among the best the area has ever known. He left a positive legacy as a classroom teacher and in athletic administration at his Alma Mater as well.”

Both drivers were uninjured, but Durkin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol does not expect to cite the drivers for the accident.
