CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — A car flipped over and crashed on Route 224 in Canfield Friday evening, killing a man and sending a 3-year-old girl to the hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 31-year-old Daniel Pennell, of Reynoldsburg, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead when he arrived.

The little girl, who was sitting in the back seat, was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Investigators said it happened around 6:30 p.m. on Route 224.

They said Pennell was driving a 2015 Hyundai too fast, heading from Boardman into Canfield in the right lane.

They said he lost control of the car and went left of center, and the car went off the left side of the road. It then hit a curb, took out a fire hydrant, rolled over and hit a tree in front of Panera.

Highway Patrol said Pennell was not wearing a seat belt but the girl was fastened in a booster seat.
