Youngstown State University and the American Cancer Society will host this year’s Relay for Life outside at Farmers National Bank Field on Fifth Avenue.
Walkers will start off the event at 1 p.m. Saturday. It runs until 7 p.m., rain or shine.
Relay for Life raises money for people fighting cancer and for cancer survivors.
The initial goal was $15,000, but this year, the goal is three times more because they’re raising money so quickly.
“So many people are affected by cancer, and I think everyone relates to that, and being able to have an event where kids and students and community members can all come together and raise money to help,” said Event Lead Leah Tekac.
There are several Relay for Life events planned around the Valley this spring and summer.
