The American Red Cross needs your help as part of a national initiative to save lives.
Our local Lake to River chapter of the Red Cross needs more volunteers to put up free smoke detectors in homes as part of its Sound the Alarm initiative.
In Northeast Ohio, the Red Cross responds, on average, to three house fires every 24 hours.
Those in charge of our area said they have everything except the manpower.
“We have the alarms, we have the ladders, we have the drills. We think this will be an amazing opportunity for volunteers to do a one-day event to help save lives in their own communities,” said Red Cross spokesperson Karen Conklin.
