GROVE CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) arrested a Mercer County man after they say he drove a pickup truck at them.
John Barlow, 58, of Liberty Township, Pennsylvania, is now in the Mercer County Jail on $500,000 bond.
State troopers say he led them on a chase Sunday morning near Grove City.
Police say they were attempting to serve Barlow with outstanding warrants at his Liberty Township home when he got into his pickup truck and drove away.
According to investigators, troopers followed Barlow as he drove through fields and yards until he landed up in a wooded area in Grove City that cruisers could not go into, so they walked up to his pickup truck. He was ordered out of the truck but refused and instead drove the pickup at the troopers, trying to hit them, investigators said.
Troopers then opened fire on the truck, but Barlow managed to get away. He was found sometime later at a campground near Slippery Rock and taken into custody.
At this point, he’s charged with attempted murder, assault and numerous traffic offenses.
Barlow appeared in court on the charges late Monday.
