President Donald Trump is calling for action in Lordstown again.
On Sunday, Trump acknowledged UAW Local 1112 President Dave Green in a tweet.
Democrat UAW Local 1112 President David Green ought to get his act together and produce. G.M. let our Country down, but other much better car companies are coming into the U.S. in droves. I want action on Lordstown fast. Stop complaining and get the job done! 3.8% Unemployment!”
On Saturday, the president tweeted about the Lordstown plant, urging GM to act.
Because the economy is so good, General Motors must get their Lordstown, Ohio, plant open, maybe in a different form or with a new owner, FAST!”
Trump also mentioned Toyota’s recent investment in the U.S.
Green released a statement regarding the tweet, saying they are doing everything they can with the Drive It Home campaign to convince GM CEO Mary Barra to reinvest in GM Lordstown.
As Mary Barra said, GM plans to discuss our fate with the UAW in the fall and we are focused on getting a new product in Lordstown,” Green said. “Folks here in the Mahoning Valley are True Blue, hard working, loyal, dedicated and ready to help General Motors and this country build the cars and trucks of the future.”
