Local News

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown City Schools’ Academic Distress Commission has narrowed down to three candidates for the CEO position.

The commission, along with two school board members, will interview the following candidates next week:

— Andrew Tommelleo, State Support Team 5 in Mahoning County

— Justin Jennings, superintendent of Muskegon Schools in Muskegon, Michigan

— Steve Thompson, superintendent of Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools

The interviews will take place April 23 and 24.

Nearly 140 people applied for the CEO job, and the ADC interviewed six semi-finalists last week.

The chosen candidate will fill Krish Mohip’s position. He announced last year that he would be stepping down in the summer when his contract ends.

Mohip started with Youngstown City Schools in 2016 when the state created a CEO position to oversee the struggling district.
