Miesha Collins charged with stealing AK-47 from gun show in Warren

A Youngstown woman faces a felony theft charge after police said she stole an AK-47 from a gun show in Warren.

Miesha Collins, 31, was arrested Sunday at the gun show on Parkman Road.

A vendor reported that a Century Arms Micro Draco AK-47 pistol was missing from his table and that he saw a woman carrying one around the show.

Police stopped the woman, identified in a police report as Collins, and said she denied having any firearms. Police said she had a jacket drapped over her arm at the time.

According to the police report, Collins eventually admitted to having an AK-47, which she handed over to officers and which still had the sales tag attached to it.

The vendor confirmed that the pistol was the one that was taken from his table.

Collins told police that she wasn’t trying to steal the pistol. She said she was taking it around the show to compare prices, according to a police report.

Police said officers asked her why she was hiding it under her jacket but Collins just continued to justify why she had it.

Collins was found to have a warrant for her arrest through Weathersfield for failing to appear in court on another charge.

Collins pleaded not guilty to her theft charge in court on Monday, and her bond was set at $20,000.
