Daniel Harnevious, charged with aggravated menacing in Youngstown, Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested a suspect they say threatened another man with a machete in downtown Youngstown.

Police went to the 100 block of W. Commerce Street behind Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts just before 4:30 p.m. Monday.

A witness reported that a man pulled out a machete, swung it around and yelled threats toward another man. She said the suspect yelled, “I have a machete, so come at me bro.”

The victim identified the suspect as Daniel Harnevious. He said he had a history with Harnevious and accused Harnevious of stalking him.

The victim told police he was getting something out of his car when Harnevious came up to him.

Police found Harnevious inside Suzie’s and asked him about what happened.

According to a police report, Harnevious admitted to confronting the victim, saying, “Yeah, I squared up on him and he wasn’t man enough to fight me.”

Police said Harnevious later admitted to putting the machete in a car and said his friend left with it.

Police said they found two machetes in a vehicle parked in a lot at the corner of S. Phelps and W. Boardman streets, along with a Space Jam wallet containing cards with Harnevious’ name on them.

Harnevious is charged with aggravated menacing.
