WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren police are investigating a shooting where three people were shot, one of which was killed. It happened early Friday morning on Maryland Street NW.

As detectives continue to investigate the city’s third homicide this year, two mothers are speaking out and say they want the violence to stop.

It was just after 2:10 a.m. when calls reporting a shooting at the Warren Heights Apartment Complex started flooding the Trumbull County 911 Center.

Caller: “Somebody got shot.”
Dispatcher: “OK, we have help on the way. How many people are shot? Just one person?”
Caller: “Two or three right now. We need, we need two or three ambulances right now.”

Caller: “They’re getting in a car right now and leaving.”

Caller: “Hey, hey, come to the Warren Heights.”
Dispatcher: “OK, we are. Do you know if anybody’s hit?”
Caller: “Yeah, I’m hit. I’m hit.”

Detectives say two men were found hurt in a parking lot on Maryland Avenue NW. The windows of two cars there were shot out.

A 19-year-old woman was killed. Police haven’t released her identity yet.

“It is very heartbreaking. It’s got to be another solution instead of shooting,” said Honeya Price, a concerned mother

Price is one Warren mother concerned about violence in the city. She has grandchildren who live in the Warren Heights.

“It really concerns me. At 7:00 this morning, my son woke me up and told me that it was a shooting and a young lady was murdered out here and that they heard the gunshots,” Price said.

Price’s friend Josie Freeman knows all too well the pain associated with this type of tragedy. Freeman’s son, grandson and nephew all lost their lives to gun violence.

“It’s just bad out here. I don’t know if they think guns are toys and they’re going to be OK next week or whatever. I mean, it’s death, you know, and it just needs to stop,” Freeman said.

“My message would be, let’s just talk. Let’s put the guns down. Let’s try to get along,” Price said.
