(WKBN) – One person is in custody and another is being investigated after a car chase on Friday that led officials from Pennsylvania into Ohio.

According to police, 32-year-old Elizabeth Hernandez, of Youngstown, and a man stole 12 pairs of jeans from Walmart around 5:45 p.m.

After driving off from the store on N. Hermitage Road in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Hernandez — the driver — and the man ended up driving onto the Shenango Valley Freeway into Sharon and eventually into Brookfield Township, Ohio.

Officers said at one point, the car reversed and backed into two Hermitage police cars.

Police eventually called the chase off because it was getting too dangerous.

Around 8:40 p.m., Youngstown police found and stopped the pair’s vehicle on the South Avenue overpass over Interstate 680.

Hernandez was charged with aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police, recklessly endangering another person, retail theft and traffic control signals.

The man’s identity has not been released.
