SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Police in Sharon are investigating a deadly shooting that killed a father of two.

It happened just after 5:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on Cedar Avenue.

Police found 24-year-old Khalil Hopson with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Hopson’s dog named Blue was also shot and was taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment. The dog lost its leg but will otherwise be OK.

Hopson’s family said they want justice.

“People don’t value life anymore. I mean, you’re here one minute; you’re gone the next, and it’s just that quick,” said his cousin, Terrence Crumby.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation, and information will be released as it becomes available.

It’s the city’s first homicide this year.
