Police have identified a man who was found dead outside a Boardman apartment building Wednesday as 68-year-old Bruce Williams of Lowellville.
Investigators say Williams was a repairman who was doing work at a four-plex along South Avenue, between Simon Road and Midlothian Boulevard.
According to the police report, Williams was found about 8:35 p.m. by someone living at the apartment complex. Police say he was found lying on his back in the front parking lot with an apparent injury to his head.
Emergency workers immediately began life-saving measures. Williams was then taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A person living in the apartment complex said Williams finished up some plumbing work in her bathroom at about 5:40 p.m. and then at about 6:30 p.m., the resident said she heard him knocking on the windows and hitting the buzzer to get back into the complex. The woman said she let him in and several minutes later, she heard and a yell, went outside and saw Williams lying on the ground unresponsive.
The woman said Willimas was fine when he was working in the complex and not complaining of any injuries or ailments.
There is no cause of death yet.
Although police initially called this a “possible homicide,” they’re now saying it’s a “death investigation” after they found nothing suspicious.
