Police: Drunk Warren mom crashed with toddler inside car, drove away

Local News

A Warren mom is free on bond after pleading not guilty to charges stemming from a hit-skip accident Thursday night.

Police dash cam video shows a vehicle was stopped on the island of 960 Quick Stop on Mahoning Avenue.

Officers said the front of the car had a lot of damage and a blown-out tire.

They said 27-year-old Rebecca Renois, covered in blood from a cut on her nose, took her 3-year-old son out of the back seat and tried to walk away.

Officers told her if she didn’t stop, she’d be arrested. She replied, “I’m already going to jail, what does it matter?”

Police said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car.

A witness told officers they saw Renois hit a parked car on Forest Street, according to a police report. Renois told police she didn’t remember hitting another car, officers said.

She’s charged with OVI, driving under suspension, hit-skip and child endangering.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
