BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The suspect in a chase through several jurisdictions that ended in Brookfield is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the township, the Ohio State Highway Patron confirms.

The chase started in Lordstown and ended at the railroad tracks on Merwin Chase Road in Brookfield.

According to Vienna’s police chief Bob Ludt, the suspect drove down the tracks, and the vehicle got stuck. The suspect then got out of the truck and ran.

Investigators called off the search Monday afternoon.

K-9s had been out looking for the suspect, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol had a chopper in the air.

Officers from Lordstown, Vienna, Warren Township and Brookfield, along with Highway Patrol troopers and sheriff’s deputies, were involved in the chase and/or search for the suspect.
