LIBERTY, Ohio (WKBN) — Liberty police are investigating after a man called 911 Monday night to report he had been shot.

Police responded to the 3300 block of Applegate Road just before 10:45 p.m.

The victim, now identified as 29-year-old Andre Lofton of Campbell, told dispatchers he was shot in the leg in his car.

Investigators say Lofton told them that he was meeting someone to sell something.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“The information said that he was supposed to meet someone there and we’re just checking it out now. We’re downloading his phone. We’re downloading, checking everything out in reference to this,” said Liberty Police Chief Toby Meloro.

Lofton was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for treatment.

Investigators say he’s in stable condition.
