The Poland School Board approved plans to consolidate — moving the seventh- and eighth-grade students to the high school.
As part of the plan that starts in the 2021-2022 school year, pre-K through second-grade students will also move to McKinley Elementary School.
The district says it will renovate school board offices at Poland Seminary High School into classrooms for the new students.
The transportation and board offices will be moved to Dobbins Elementary School, which closed this school year as part of what the district called a cost-saving measure.
This comes after the district failed to pass a bond issue in November 2015 to build a new school building.
The district reports that it has been facing declining enrollment in recent years.
