Owners of Jay’s Famous Hot Dogs decide to remodel, rather than build

Local News

The owners of Jay’s Famous Hot Dogs in Boardman have now decided not to build a new restaurant but rather to remodel the existing building.

In April, we reported on plans to demolish the building in order to build a new one.

The owners decided the cost of that was too expensive, however.

That means the distinctive A-frame building with the orange roof will remain in place along US-224.

Jay’s will close after Saturday with the remodeling expected to take one to two months. One new addition is that the building will get air conditioning.

Jay’s opened in downtown Youngstown in 1920. The Boardman location has been around for 38 years.
