NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WKBN) – Police are searching for a kidnapping suspect after a rollover crash ended with a victim in the hospital.
Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Fifth Street SW in Warren early Sunday morning for reports that a 20-year-old woman had been kidnapped.
According to a Warren police report, police did not find a victim or suspect on the scene but spoke to witnesses.
Police later spotted the suspect’s vehicle and chased it into North Jackson onto Salem-Warren Road. The car crashed around 2 a.m, and the victim was located at the crash scene and taken to the hospital, according to the police report.
The suspect, identified in court records as 19-year-old King Atkins, reportedly left the scene.
A warrant was issued for Atkins’ arrest Monday morning, charging him with kidnapping and failure to comply, according to court records.
Atkins is not yet in custody.
The police pursuit and investigation involved investigators from North Jackson, Warren, Canfield police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
