NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – A Niles McKinley High School student has been making buttons for a local candidate’s political campaign.
Mason St. Clair began his button collection after receiving a gift from his mother — his grandfather’s Ross Perot political button.
Since then, he has been visiting antique stores and flea markets to add campaign buttons to his collection. In fact, he is one of the youngest members of the American Political Items Collectors.
For the last year, St. Clair has also been designing and making his own buttons for local politicians, including Niles native, Congressman Tim Ryan, who is running for president.
St. Clair isn’t the official button-maker for Ryan’s campaign, but he says he would love the opportunity.
St Clair has been selling the buttons throughout the community for $3, according to the school district.
