Niles officers came across a vehicle that Pennsylvania State Police had reported stolen

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – A man from Bedford, Pennsylvania is in custody after police say he led them on a car chase from Ohio to Pennsylvania Thursday.

According to Niles police, officers came across a vehicle that Pennsylvania State Police had reported stolen. In an attempt to pull the car over, the driver took off, leading them on a chase.

The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Justin Weidner, entered into Pennsylvania on Interstate 80. That’s where Niles police ended their pursuit and Pennsylvania State Police took over.

Troopers were able to stop the driver in Emlenton with what they call a PIT maneuver. They say Weidner took off on foot and a short chase ensued.

Weidner was caught and arrested. Troopers say he is facing several charges including fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment and receiving stolen property.

In all, Weidner traveled through five counties during the chase.

Shenango Township police also assisted.
