Police confirmed two people were found dead in a Niles home Monday morning in an apparent murder-suicide.
Officers responded to the house in the 500 block of Henry St. SE at 11:45 a.m.
They said it looks like 49-year-old Joseph Williams shot his wife, 52-year-old Jennifer Williams, before shooting himself.
“Looks like we had some gunfire in the house and we are looking into this as a possible murder-suicide between the spouses at this time,” said Niles Police Chief Jay Holland.
Their son found them after he stopped by to check on them.
Holland said they have a long investigation ahead of them.
“We have recovered some evidence and a note, and we can’t divulge the contents of that right away.”
One neighbor said the couple was always quiet and the man had been over his house several times in the summer.
No one reported hearing gunshots in the area, so investigators do not know when it happened.
“It appears the one party was getting ready to go to work when it happened, so it’s a pretty fresh scene,” Holland said.
The Trumbull County coroner is helping in the investigation.
