NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – Newton Falls Law Director Joseph Fritz and Newton Falls Police Chief Gene Fixler are on administrative leave pending an investigation, according to the city manager.

City officials declined to comment further and Fixler said he was unable to discuss it.

The two were put on leave on Tuesday for a period of 30 days.

According to letters from City Manager Pamela Priddy, the investigation into Fritz involves the Treasury Investment Board and other items related to the city’s finances.

The letters state that Fixler is on leave during a “full investigation of the City of Newton Falls Police Department.”

Fritz has worked as the Newton Falls law director and prosecutor for the Newton Falls Municipal Court since 2010. Fixler has been chief since 2013.

WKBN 27 First News reached out to both Fixler and Fritz on Wednesday but have not heard back as of this report.
