A clean neighborhood is a better neighborhood.
Youngstown’s South Avenue has a new look. Trash cans have been put outside several businesses along the street.
It’s a collaboration between the South Avenue Business Association and the City of Youngstown.
The businesses that have the trash cans will be responsible for emptying the garbage.
Ten trash cans were put in place Tuesday. The goal is to get even more.
“It’s a goal to make South Avenue cleaner and safer. This is the first step in part of the clean process. If you see these barrels as you’re driving down the street, it’s supposed to inspire pride, which is what we want,” said Angel Cruz of the South Avenue Business Association.
South Avenue is the first part of the city with the trash cans that carry a label identifying the area.
It’s hoping they’re added around the city.
