Warren is getting an extra set of eyes thanks to a Local Government Safety Grant grant.
Some of the money from the $200,000 grant is being used to install security cameras at five different places around downtown.
The project is a joint effort between the city of Warren and Trumbull County. Each location will have one station that contains about 15 cameras. The cameras will give a 360-degree view.
First News spoke with a business owner. She says it’s a good step in being cautious.
“There’s some scary things that go on in the world today, so I guess any kind of precautionary measure that you can take just to give people a peace of mind is important,” said Mary Elston, of Beautiful Whirl’d.
The cameras will be used for safety and security reasons only, they will not be used as traffic cameras.
The concrete bases are being installed this week. The actual cameras will be put up within the next couple of weeks.
